A busy schedule, an almost-termination

It has been forever since I last updated here. I hope that my work affairs will finally be settling down, once and for all.

A lot has happened since my last update. First off, not long after the prior post, I was suddenly served with a termination notice.

It was a strange back-and-forth trying to pull out a concrete reason from the management. Surely, if you want so badly to see an employee gone, you should have a list of reasons on hand? However, I got the feeling that they were unable to pin down a particular reason. I went in circles with them at the café, and left the place more mystified than anything. Either I just “had to go”, or they simply didn’t have a concrete reason. In fact, 31st July was supposed to be my last day at work.

Commence a mad scramble from my work senpai (senior) who fought tooth and nail to try and keep me. Even the director came and sat in for one of my classes. After that, she gave me a couple pieces of advice, which frankly was the most illuminating piece that I had gotten thus far.

After that, the purported last day came and went. No one talked about it ever again. I remain employed, giving classes, with my name on the staff payroll. Now I go in with the mindset that every day is my last day at work. Got something for me to do? Ah-ah-ah! I could be gone tomorrow! It is my last day at work, after all!

“Long term goals”

The other day, my work senpai asked me “where I saw myself in the company”.

Every day’s my last day though. It’s hard to say!

I told this to my work senpai, who said “don’t say these things” with a dismayed expression. (Terrible) jokes aside, I’m sure she has gone through a lot, trying to clean up as I somehow step over landmine after landmine. But really, I got served a notice a couple months prior; I think let’s save that for after the probation is clear.

Now that I’m settling down into my own duties on my own, I will need to find some way to organise my affairs. For instance, juggling streaming and my day job. I know the streaming side has been shelved more and more. Thankfully it looks like things are finally settling down after a chaotic 5 months, allowing me to finally begin committing to a regular weekly cycle again.

Birthday!

I will undertake to do these updates at least once a month. Chase me if I don’t.

First of all, happy birthday to myself, nearly one month late. I first started streaming on 25th September 2020 to blow off steam. I had wanted to wait till 29th, but my mind decided that it simply couldn’t sit still anymore.

I have not celebrated my birthday for a very, very long time. The household just sort of let it lapse some time when I was in secondary school. None of us spoke a single word of it, and since then we have not bothered with celebrating it anymore. At most, the mother passes me a red packet on that day. To make things clear, I do not feel any particular sadness about this. However, it does attract some bewildered reactions from those around me. This gets me thinking that maybe I should actually be feeling sad about this. But I simply cannot find it in me anymore – so be it.

Well, I still consider it a somewhat special day IF I remember it. Occasionally I do forget. I remember having to check my ID once for the date. But usually I remember the date. And I guess streaming has helped me to get into the mindset that I should at least try to celebrate this day rather than dismissing it entirely.

I did a singing stream and played a couple rounds of mahjong as well. Life is good.

Weekly Schedule

I think my schedule is LARGELY finalised. Not bad for someone who has been on their last day at work for several months. After having my working days shifted around back and forth it seems to have settled down and looks set in stone.

I additionally realised that I need to give myself a bit more of a break as well – some of my past schedules were dangerously close to running me into the ground. I think one of the biggest changes I have done is to deliberately give myself at least 1 day completely to myself. I am free to do whatever I want, be it binge-watching anime, going out for a stroll, or… just doing work. Recently I started trying to add a bit of activity to my weekly routine as well, so I don’t remain sedentary all the time. It eats into the streaming time, but I think it helps me recharge the batteries to perform better both on air and in class.

As always, check my Discord for further details and to slack off. Here’s my schedule. I will vanish from Thursday until Sunday, as those are my busiest days.

Monday9:30pm till late
TuesdayTBC – check Discord
Wednesday3:00pm till dinnertime
ThursdayMay stream in the morning. 9:00 to 11:00am if I do.
FridayNo stream.
SaturdayNo stream.
Sunday9:30pm till late

I’ll update my gaming progress another day, or even do up some reviews. For now I am focusing on Atelier Escha & Logy (the two of them need to tie the knot already) and PowerWash Simulator.

Alright, I’m done here. Before this post gets any longer, I will do the signoffs: catch a live stream on my Youtube, follow me on Twitter/Instagram. And of course, join my Discord. I don’t think it will fail us like social media algorithms do.
